CV & RESUME - IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?
In the US and Canada a resume is the standard for job applications. This is usually a 1 page career overview document, possibly spanning to two pages dependant on your experience and profession. In the UK and Europe, a CV is the standard for job applications, and typically goes in to more detail than a North American resume. In Hong Kong, we tend to follow the European format, a more detailed document spanning a few pages.

Our pricing depends on a few factors. Firstly, we have four different career levels to choose from and the price depends on where you fit on this scale. The difference in our pricing generally reflects how much time we need to assign your writer to work on your project. A graduate resume generally takes a lot less time than an executive resume, and our pricing structure reflects this.

WHAT HAPPENS ONCE I'VE PLACED MY ORDER?
You will receive an automatic order confirmation email (check your spam if you haven't received it). Your order confirmation email contains your unique order reference number and a link to our online portal where you can upload your existing documents or information. Here is a short video explaining how to register and upload your old resume. Once we have received this, we will assign your project to the most suitable resume writer in our business by 5pm the following business day.

HOW QUICKLY WILL I GET MY NEW DOCUMENTS?
Once you have registered on our platform and activated your project our management team will assign your project by 5pm the following business day. Your assigned resume writer will then request a time for your consultation call, or carry this out via the online chat in our platform if you aren't available for a phone call. Once your consultation has taken place and your resume writer has all the information they need, you can expect your first drafts within 2 business days.
Please note: we are a professional career consulting company (not self employed freelancers) and our office is closed on weekends. While some of our resume writers do choose to work overtime from home on weekends, Saturday and Sunday do not constitute 'business days' within our company and our offices are closed.

WHO WILL BE WORKING ON MY RESUME? DO I SPEAK TO THEM?
Of course. We have a team of over 50 professional resume writers who specialize in writing resumes for approximately 40 different career fields, most of whom are from the recruitment industry. For any individual projects, we assign the resume to a writer in the same field. All our resume writers are HK based and are contactable Monday - Friday.
WHERE WILL MY RESUME WRITER BE BASED? DO I NEED TO MEET THEM IN PERSON?
Our resume writers are based in Hong Kong, some work within our offices on Connaught Rd and some work remotely from home. Our resume consultations are completed on the phone or through our online chat to speed up the process and reduce costs.
HOW CAN I COMMUNICATE WITH MY WRITER?
Once your project is assigned to your resume writer you can contact them directly through the chat function in your account or by phone. We avoid using emails as they can sometimes end up in spam and important messages can be missed.
HOW LONG DOES THE FULL PROCESS TAKE TO COMPLETE?
This varies from client to client. We work on your documents until you are 100% happy. We provide the first draft within 2 business days of your consultation and any requested revisions within 1 business day. Projects usually require revisions as no one knows your own experience as well as you, please bear this in mind when engaging our services. We recommend starting the process at least ten business days before application deadlines to ensure your documents align perfectly with your own skills and experience and are tailored toward the position you are applying for.
DO YOU WRITE RESUMES FOR PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF Hong kong?
Yes we do. Resume People is part of the Careers Expert Group, a worldwide company with regional offices in Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the US and Singapore. If you are based in one of these countries we recommend ordering directly from that office, links to which can be found at the bottom of this page. If you are moving to Hong Kong or not based in one of these countries we would be happy to complete your project from our Hong Kong office.
CAN I ASK FOR REVISIONS? HOW LONG DO THEY TAKE?
Yes! We are here to ensure that your professional resume meets all your expectations and requirements. If you feel that there is something lacking in your new resume, you can send it for an unlimited number of revisions. For further information regarding the service, please take a look at our Guarantee Page. Your resume writer will deliver requested revisions by close of business, the following business day providing they have had the opportunity to clarify any extra information with you.
CAN I HAVE MULTIPLE DESIGNS/VERSIONS OF MY RESUME?
If you require multiple designs of your resume, this will incur our resume redesign fee of $300 for each version which can be purchased here. If you wish to change the written content of your new resume for different applications you will be required to purchase additional time for your writer at $300 p/h which can be done here.
WILL I BE ABLE TO EDIT MY DOCUMENTS IN THE FUTURE?
Absolutely! We understand more than anyone the importance of keeping your resume or CV up-to-date while also adjusting it to particular vacancies. After you confirm your acceptance of the order, we deliver the final documents in PDF and Microsoft Word 2016 formats which you can edit anytime.
WHAT WILL MY RESUME LOOK LIKE?
We have 6 designs that you are able to choose from which can be found here. When engaging our services you will have the option to select a preferred style/design for your new resume. If your assigned writer advises against your selected design and doesn't believe it is suitable for your profession/industry they will let you know during your consultation call where you can agree on another design. Please note we do not work from templates, your resume will be designed around the written content of your professionally written resume.
IS THERE A TIME LIMIT WHEN WORKING WITH YOU?
There is no time limit and we will keep working on your documents until you are 100% happy. However, to maintain and manage our writers workload, we do ask you to close your project out once you are satisfied with your documents. If we do not hear from you within 14 days after submitting your new documents our platform will automatically close your project due to inactivity.

A considerable amount of time and effort goes into critiquing, researching, drafting, writing and proofreading your new documents. It is this time that you are purchasing, rather than a tangible product. As resume writing is a bespoke and tailored service, we are unable to offer full refunds once your project has been assigned to a writer. Our refund policy is as follows:
Like any bespoke writing service, you should expect multiple drafts and revisions before a finished product is available. To ensure satisfaction with your final documents, we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Our writers will work with you throughout the revision process until the final draft is to your satisfaction.
In no event will refunds be issued if deadlines are missed. Project lifecycles are unique to each individual's needs and specifications. While first drafts are submitted within two business days of your initial consultation, we recommend starting the process at least ten business days before application deadlines to ensure your documents reflect your own skills and experience and are tailored toward the position you are applying for.

- If you wish to cancel your order after you have been sent first drafts of your documents, we will not issue a refund unless we are in breach of our own terms and conditions. We will, however, work on your project until you are 100% happy or reassign your project if required.
- Under no circumstances will we issue monetary refunds after 60 days from placement of your order. Refunds that are approved by our Chief Operating Officer for orders placed more than 60 days ago will be issued by way of a credit voucher which can be redeemed on our website with no expiry date.

WHAT IF IM NOT HAPPY WITH MY RESUME?
Your resume writer will keep working on your professional resume until you are 100% happy. Sometimes this will require you to list out edits in an email or over the phone, our writers will create your documents based on current standards to give you the best chance of securing an interview, if this isn't what you want you will need to explain in detail to your resume writer how you want the CV written. If, after multiple drafts you still aren't happy with the resume, please contact the office and we will assign your project to another writer free of charge.
WHY SHOULD I AVOID CHEAP $1,000 RESUMES? WHY ARE SOME COMPANIES CHARGING $15,000+?
As with anything in life, you get what you pay for. Unfortunately the resume writing industry is largely unregulated. This means anyone can claim to be a professional, and with the use of a self made website offer their services to write your resume with no prior experience in your sector, with professional writing or even recruiting. If you are looking for a fast, budget service, this might be an option for you. However, if you are looking for a professionally written resume that puts you ahead of the competition we would advise you to stay clear of these low cost writers. A professional resume and cover letter will take around 8 hours to write and design professionally (see our writing process here), so the question to ask yourself is: who is completing 8 hours work for $1,000 or less? That's actually less than the legal minimum wage! On the other hand, there are companies charging in excess of $15,000 for a resume and cover letter, representing an hourly rate in excess of $2,000 per hour, we believe this is completely unjustified and indeed excessive! The Resume People seek a charge rate of around $300 per hour, which positions us competitively in the market, while ensuring we can afford to employ the industry's top talent to work on your documents.
